Models

Natalie

It is not that often that I shoot someone I’ve never met before but that is what happened here with Natalie Chinnyah. She is a dancer and a friend of a friend who is a photographer who was working with her recently. I was at his house (by invitation) while he was shooting.

I found Natalie quite fascinating as a model and very interesting as a person. She is a dancer and actress and is busy with work which doesn’t surprise me in the least. She has the ability to assume a  character and move and act as that character with the ease of experience. It’s great to watch and great to work with.

My friend Paul took a break for about 10 minutes and I got these. They are a taste of things to come as Natalie and I are now planning a shoot together in the next few weeks.

Andrea Again

This is another composite image. Andrea was shot at my underground car park high tech studio in East Grinstead several months ago. The background image was shot about a week ago in London. I shot the London image as a background with the Andrea image or something similar in mind. This was practice for a couple of very interesting assignments that should be coming up soon but which will remain nameless until they are in the bag.

I love this kind of work and see a lot more of it in my future. Some might say that it isn’t really photography and maybe they have a point. But I couldn’t care less. This could have been shot in the same session but that would have meant arranging a whole new shoot. Sometimes it’s better and cheaper to do it all in post.

Bo Genna

From a recent session in Turners Hill, Sussex with the lovely, smart and very talented Bo Genna whose website I am in the process of creating. We shot variations on several characters in different styles. A great session. These are for her modelling portfolio.

Louise

Had a fun session with Louise Taylor on her roof last night. Here are some of the results.

When she started getting cold we went inside.

Not because she was cold but because it is a lot of work to retouch goosebumps.

She did her own makeup and wardrobe too.

What’s happened to the 365? Not sure yet. It is currently suspended while I catch up on some more urgent work. But I also have to figure out if it belongs on this site.

Fantasy Session

Well I needed to get the processing finished on Barbara’s session and I had a bunch of other non photographic stuff to get out of the way. All of which left me without having made a 365 pic for today. I could still do one but it is now 2:00am and I don’t have anyone else around. I will continue tomorrow.

So these are all from the session last Wednesday.

Bond Bad Babe

Another from the session with Barbara on Wednesday. Note this is not a 365. It is nearly 9:30pm and I still haven’t got that done yet. I was thinking if I post this I might be let off but that won’t cut it so I’m going to have to find a shot somewhere somehow with someone. It’s gonna be hard to match this so don’t get your expectations too high!

64/365 Saying Goodbye

Saying Goodbye

Saying Goodbye

I’ve been working flat out proceesing all the images from the session on Wednesday with Barabara. This is from that session too so it isn’t a real 365 shot. That means I’ve failed. Wanna make somethin’ of it?

I’m really happy with the images we got on Wednesday. Barbara is so easy to work with. It felt like she could see the shots from my viewpoint. She worked really hard for nearly eight hours.

63/365 Barbara

Barbara

Barbara

This is Barbara who acts, sings and models and who lives in West Sussex. Today we worked together for about 8 hours and made several like this and others with a little film noir flavour. I love the pinup pictures of the ’40s and ’50s and so does she so we had a lot of fun dreaming them up and getting them done.

26/365 Missing Jasmine

Jasmine has left. She was a great model. I’m having to resort to using myself again. Too bad eh?

Bernie Greene

Bernie

Anyway back from London now sitting near East Grinstead.  Good to be able to work with a decent monitor again and a proper keyboard. It is very difficult to process images using a laptop display.

I’m continuing with my experiments with Hollywood photographic lighting from the 1940s. I love it. Fun and dramatic stuff. This one uses three light sources. The one from behind and above is at full power and is a bare strobe. The other two are at about 1/8th power and are also snooted so as not to spill light into areas where I didn’t want it. See if you can figure out what the placement of them was.

It was great working together with Bernie on this shoot!
He has a really good understanding of film noir and it was fun playing around with this concept.
